Bring the inside (medial) stabilizing strap forward across the top of the foot and under the heel. Ankle braces serve as the external supports to limit certain motions, such as plantar flexion/inversion (movement at the ankle joint that points the foot downward away from the leg and turns the foot inward), and provide awareness of where your ankle joint is in space.
For maximum effectiveness, ankle braces should fit comfortably in the shoes.
How to put on an ankle brace with laces. Feed the lacing through all eyelets and tighten. Make sure to mark your brace left or right on the inner white tab on the top strap to identify which ankle it goes on. Loosen the laces or velcro closures on the brace. Repeat this process for the outside (lateral) strap. You do not want to move the ankle brace as it is supporting the injury.
Position heel in the hole at the rear and bottom of the brace. Secure the velcro® hook to the velcro loop on the inside Apply large hook and loop strap on side of ankle.
Pull small strap around brace to desired tension and fasten. Begin at the foot, secure the laces/velcro straps followed by the laces/velcro straps on the shin. Ankle brace should be worn with an athletic sock.
Secure the stabilizing strap to the opposite side of the ankle using the loops provided, if necessary. Make sure to pull all the velcro straps snug. Another option is to move on to minimally shod footwear and carefully learn to run with a little less support but perhaps with more feedback to your brain.
Continue by wrapping the strap under the foot and heel. Make sure heel is all the way back and foot is fully seated in the brace. A full circumferential elastic strap secures all strapping.

Lace the ankle brace and tie snuggly. Apply a long sock on the foot needing the brace. Insert your foot slowly to protect the injury.
Once adjusted to size of ankle further adjustment is not needed. How to put on your ankle gauntlet. Insert foot inside the boot po rtion of the brace, making sure to have the tongue of the brace resides on the top of your foot between your skin and the lacing.
Laces may be worn on front or back of ankle dependent on preference. Once your foot is inside the shoe, tighten the laces as much as needed, secure the top strap of the ankle brace, stand up, and take a few steps. Never wear the brace over an open wound.
Before application loosen all straps and laces. Slide foot into the orthosis as if you were putting on a pair of boots. Adjust hook and loop fasteners under heel if necessary.
